Geotron, sometimes nicknamed New Earth, is a Terracity located deep within the Milky Way, and the first ecumenopolis constructed by humanity.
Description[]
Overview[]
Geotron is a planet located close to the galactic core. It is among the wealthiest TGG worlds, serving as a commercial hub for its sector, holding major economic infrastructures and prestigious educational institutions. Additionally, Geotron is equipped to serve as a backup capital of the Trans-Galactic Government should something happen to Earth. It has two natural moons, one natural sun, several artificial moons, and an artificial ringworld around it.
Geography[]
Before being converted to a terracity, Geotron's natural surface included deserts, oceans, grasslands, forests, mountain ranges, islands, and polar ice caps.
Urban Layout[]
Following its conversion, Geotron had no more natural land outside of designated and domed reserves areas, as the rest of its surface was converted into a terracity. Geotron gained a planetary shield system, along with a Weather Control System. The core was converted to an artificial one, similarly to Planetoids, with a planetary power grid being set up. The terracity was divided into several thousand levels, with the lowest mainly being power stations and industrial works, with residential areas above them, reaching to the old ground level and then far into the sky, dwarfing the architecture of most other worlds. The lower levels were rather dark, like an eternal night, but were lit with artificial lighting on almost every street and building. Large floating cities are common on Geotron's moons. Large waste pipes for non-recyclable products and other civil workings run through the city, mostly hidden, but are most visible within the Lower and Ground levels, leading to incineration facilities or transport ships. Also positioned in orbit around Geotron are orbital defense platforms, shipyards, and deployment stations. Geotron's cityscape is organized into regions, and then those are divided into sub-regions, which mirror Earth countries, although adding new sub-regions in place of oceans and other bodies of water.
Environment[]
Before being cyberformed, Geotron had various climates, ranging from freezing cold temperatures in the polar ice caps to scorching hot temperatures in the deserts. Although the weather was mostly calm, storms Geotron could reach levels not seen on Old Earth, with large maelstroms taking up parts of the sky, although these storms were rather rare. After being converted to a terracity, Geotron had a controlled climate and atmosphere, rather calm and temperate in nature, with precipitation mainly being concentrated to nature reserves.
Inhabitants[]
Citizens[]
The citizens of Geotron, known as Geotronians, made up the population of Geotron after being cyberformed. They are comprised of many species, although the majority are humans. Citizens were spread throughout all regions of the planet, ranging from the Lower, Ground, and Upper Levels.
Flora[]
Geotron was the home of a multitude of plant life. Dominant flora included the Greatwood Trees, which grew taller, wider, and stronger than any tree found on Earth, able to withstand maelstroms, with their roots reaching deep into the ground. Longfruit Trees were also quite strong, and grew Longfruits, a tan and bland-tasting oblong fruit native to the planet's surface, which are an excellent source of fiber and protein. Smaller plants included the Cone Flower, which grew to be near half the height of an average adult human, Geotron Packer Plants, which compacted organic materials into cubes within itself for consumption, Geotron Moonflowers, which only bloom at night and emit a soft blue glow, known to boost and reinvigorate Magic users, Lightbushes, which emit strong yellow light, Geotron Coral, where its marine life grazes, and the deadly Necroid Fungus, which often rides on living hosts and entices them to seek out uninfected creatures to spread to. While most of the flora was preserved in nature reserves and taken to other worlds, the Necroid Fungus was eradicated. Geotron Moonflowers became popular across Government space, reaching all the way to No Man's Space, due to their magic-boosting properties.
Fauna[]
Geotron was home a wide variety of native fauna, with the most notable being Astrocanines, Redcats, and Silver Vulpins. Astrocanines, a canine, became one of the most popular pets within TGG space, spreading out across known space. The feline Redcats were not as widespread, but were still popular among the citizens of Government space. Silver Vulpins, a fox-like animal, became the favorites of high-class citizens living on Geotron, but didn't spread far beyond the Milky Way. Other notable land animals, held within nature reserves and spread to other planets after the Government colonization, included the Sturdhorns, large pack animals with four large horns, and Nevadeers, deer-like animals that appear to hold some magic properties within their antlers. Sea creatures include the squid-like Exocus, the armored shark-like Capis Armorfish, and the Jilcan Eels. Crescent Hawks, an avian creature that casts a crescent-shaped shadow, are also used as pets on Geotron. The most widespread species is the Silicon Snail, which is a large shelled gastropod, able to consume metals and many forms of matter, and is often used as an organic way to dispose of trash by poorer and less developed worlds. A lesser known aerial species of manta ray-like predators that utilize electroreception was documented during the first expedition to the planet. Geotronian Slimes were also common on the planet's surface, and were among natural prey of Astrocanines.
Government and politics[]
Geotron is ruled by the democratic Trans-Galactic Government. Geotron holds its own Planetary Administrator and its own legislative branches, just like other Government worlds, with leaders that can be elected into office by the civilian population.
Military[]
Geotron is equipped with a Military Planetary Security Force, like all other Government worlds, along with a Starwatch defense fleet on standby throughout the system. Due to the importance of Geotron, the planet has a navy command post stationed on it. The Planetary Security Force of Geotron is designated as the Geotronian Security Force.
Law Enforcement[]
The Planetary Security Force provides a prominent division of law enforcement officers, which can be seen across all levels of Geotron's megacities. While the equipment and uniforms of these officers can often seem ceremonial when compared to other Government police forces, they have proven to be an effective force, and produce training material and standard tech for law enforcement agencies elsewhere.
Public Works[]
Public health and safety is a top priority, with some of the galaxy's best medical technology and professionals being located on Geotron, along with an advanced healthcare system that is free for the population. While many jobs in terms of labor and even first responding is carried out by robots, it is not uncommon to see organic workers in these positions as well. Education is also a priority, with public and private schools located across each district, many of which are among the best in the galactic core, and the Government as a whole. Online schooling is also prominent. Public transportation systems run across Geotron, from the surface to its moons, with no or relatively low fares when compared to other worlds. Most products made for use on Geotron can either be used indefinitely or are recyclable, with several biodegradable products also made. However, products that cannot be recycled, used indefinitely, or break down naturally are sent to trash compactors and incinerators, and the megacities make use of sophisticated sewage and trash collecting systems, aimed at not overflowing the landfills of the levels below the lowest civilian tier.
Economics[]
Intergalactic banks and other economic powerhouses, along with the headquarters of megacorporations, are located on Geotron. However, Geotron's immense wealth and manufacturing capabilities have allowed its populace to function as a post-scarcity society.
History[]
Trans-Galactic War[]
Geotron was found as planet with a life-supporting atmosphere, already sporting some native flora and fauna, although it had no intelligent life. It was colonized by the Government, supporting highly-protected domed colonies, where Redcats, Astrocanines, Silver Vulpins, and other local fauna were domesticated, soon becoming popular pets among Government citizens. The planet was a popular tourist destination in those years, and was a source of minerals and other resources, such as Keplerium and Novanium.
Post-Trans-Galactic War[]
After the Trans-Galactic War, Geotron was converted into a terracity. It held the headquarters of major economic institutions, from banks to megacorporations, along with certain government agencies.
