Hyperdrills are large starships, often Planetoids, used to carve hyperlanes in previously unavailable Hyperspace.
Capabilities[]
Hyperdrills use Light Drives to enter hyperspace, and are able to slowly carve stable tunnels in hyperspace, carving through the turbulent clouds. However, unlike the Negative Reality Drivers, standard hyperdrills are unable to make significant excavation processes through maelstroms, tidal fields, pullfields, or artificial blockades. Hyperdrills take massive amounts of energy to operate, moving slowly and with considerable risks. Often, hyperdrills also collect and compile tacheo-energy from hyperspace, compiling it into storage tanks. Excessive use of hyperdrills, especially across incredibly vast distances, causes widespread hyperspace anomalies that can linger for millenniums. These anomalies, while very small and often appearing in empty space, can transport objects and living beings across galactic superclusters, also creating the effect of time dilation, unless whatever entered the anomaly had relativity shields. Advanced hyperdrills that enter maelstrom openings can collect deposits of Dark Energy and bring them into realspace. Due to the difficulty of piloting hyperdrills, hyperdrill pilots are usually cyborgs with cybernetics specifically meant for extremely precise hyperspace navigation.
Background[]
Hyperdrills were developed during the start of the Great Titanian Civil War, replacing the now decommissioned Negative Reality Drivers. They were used during the eras that follow, used to create new hyperlanes among secured space, and to reopen any hyperlanes previously closed by artificial blockades. Hyperdrills are an extremely expensive asset, only used by the wealthiest and most advanced factions and megacorporations.
